SketchUp is based on the idea that it should be possible to sketch in 3D. Sketching has always been a great tool for developing ideas, solving problems and communicating with others. What's more, hand sketches add nuance and personality to a concept, which can help to convey meaning or set the tone for an idea.
Style Builder (beta), a plugin for SketchUp Pro 6, is a new tool that you can use to create customized sketchy-edge Styles. You can apply these Styles to your models to make them look hand-drawn. Sketchy-edge Styles can look like anything -- wavy pencil lines, quick pen strokes, marks from a fat stick of graphite -- if you can get them into your computer, you can make them into a Style.
You can download a beta version of Style Builder right now. It's available for Windows and Mac versions of SketchUp Pro 6. If you don't have a license for SketchUp Pro 6, you can try Style Builder with the trial version of SketchUp Pro 6, as long as you have evaluation time remaining.
Please note that you need image editing software (such as Adobe Photoshop) to use Style Builder.
Here are some resources you can use to get started with Style Builder. Please keep in mind that since it's still in beta, you might encounter a few wrinkles. If you do, we'd love to hear about them; use the Style Builder Help Group to report any problems ask questions or make suggestions.
